What can I say.... I do love these books. Honestly, I think that the storyline, although very similar to Twilight (well, considering it was based on a Twilight fanfic), does have a plot, story and concept all to itself. There are just so many aspects of this series that makes it unique to itself, that you really cannot compare the two.
In this book, we continue on about a week after the first one leaves off. For those of you who have not read the book, I will say no more.
The book follows a more complicated plotline this time around, as Ana and Christian get to know each other more, and revelations about Christian surface. You'll be shocked at some of the things that he reveals in this novel. Also, the book unfolds more of a love story, something that we've all waiting for. Christian begins to warm, and you can't help but feel for him. Yes, there's more and more sex, but what can you expect? I must say that the sex scenes do not really get anymore unique in this one, probably due to the fact that this one is more about their relationship and finding out who Christian really is. But what is one of the main things we want to know? What is Christian about, and what was his past like? I think it's one of our most burning questions. Fifty Shades Darker reveals a bit more about that, and answers a few of our questions.
Overall, the plotline for this one was a lot better than the first. But I have to say that it didn't necessarily make it better. I found that I liked the first one better. I think what turned me off about this book was that it was a bit slow throughout the middle of the novel, and it was hard to stay excited about the book. I think the best part of the book had to be the end. No spoilers. But it's oh, so cute.
I can't wait for Fifty Shades Freed. Knowing the synopsis for it, I think it's going to be the best one yet.
Cover art: Following the typical Fifty Shades color scheme and theme, it's a beautiful cover. Out of the trilogy, I definitely like this cover the best. The mask has quite a bit of symbolism (if you've read the book, you'll know what I'm talking about).
Would this book be a good movie?: For sure.
